Ryan Boatman serves as Senior Tax Strategist at Gilbert & Cook, where he provides sophisticated tax and estate planning strategies designed to align seamlessly with each client’s broader financial plan. By collaborating closely with clients’ tax preparers and attorneys, Ryan helps ensure that financial decisions are proactive, coordinated, and purpose-driven.
With more than a decade of experience in public accounting prior to joining Gilbert & Cook, Ryan developed a deep appreciation for the trust clients place in their advisors. He saw firsthand how meaningful tax guidance can be — and recognized the opportunity to serve clients more proactively throughout the year. At Gilbert & Cook, Ryan works alongside the planning team to integrate tax strategy into comprehensive financial plans and annual updates, delivering advice that considers both long-term goals and immediate tax implications.
Clients appreciate Ryan’s ability to translate complex tax situations into clear, digestible guidance. He is known for being a steady, thoughtful presence — especially during periods of transition. Much of his most rewarding work involves helping families and business owners navigate succession and estate planning decisions, allowing them to remain focused on what matters most during pivotal life moments.

Ryan remains actively involved with Drake Athletics and regularly volunteers with the University in various capacities. Over the years, he has also supported local nonprofit organizations including the B.Well Foundation and Heartland Youth Choir.
Beyond the Office
When he is not serving clients or giving back to the community, Ryan enjoys spending time with his fiancé, Becca, and their two dogs, Murphy and Nigel. He is an avid fan of live sporting events and concerts and enjoys traveling with his family whenever possible.
