FINANCIAL ADVISOR - HIGH NET WORTH & COMPLEX PLANNING

Who This Role Is For

This role is designed for an experienced financial advisor who thrives in complex planning conversations and has spent their career guiding high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth families through meaningful financial decisions. You are confident advising families with taxable estates, layered planning needs, and multi-generational considerations—and you value depth of relationship over volume.

You bring both technical excellence and emotional intelligence to the table, helping clients make clear, confident decisions during life transitions, liquidity events, and legacy planning 

What You’ll Do  

Client Leadership & Strategy

  • Serve as the primary advisor for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth families

  • Lead advanced planning conversations for clients with estates exceeding the unified
    credit

  • Develop and guide sophisticated strategies involving:

o   Estate and wealth transfer planning

o   Tax-efficient investment and income strategies

o   Charitable and philanthropic planning

o   Multi-generational wealth considerations

  • Translate complex planning concepts into clear, actionable guidance

  • Act as a long-term strategic partner through life events, transitions, and decision points

  • Proactively review, refine, and evolve client strategies as laws, markets, and client goals change

Relationship Management

  • Build deep, trusted relationships with clients and their families

  • Serve as the primary point of accountability for client experience and outcomes

  • Coordinate with external professionals (CPAs, attorneys, trustees) to ensure aligned
    execution

  • Lead client meetings end-to-end, including preparation, facilitation, implementation, and follow-up

Collaboration & Guidance

  • Partner closely with internal planning and investment professionals to deliver integrated solutions

  • Bring advanced planning ideas to the table and collaborate on complex case design

  • Participate in peer collaboration and mentorship within the advisory team

  • Contribute thought leadership and best practices drawn from prior UHNW experience

Required Experience & Credentials

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • CFP® certification (or equivalent advanced planning credentials)

  • 5+ years of experience advising high-net-worth families

  • Direct experience working with:

o   Taxable estates above the unified credit

o    Advanced estate and tax planning strategies

o   Complex client balance sheets and cash flow scenarios

  • Strong investment knowledge and ability to deliver evidence-based advice

  • Exceptional communication, organization, and time-management skills

  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and emotional intelligence

Preferred / Nice to Have

  • Experience with ultra-high-net-worth families and multi-generational planning

  • Charitable planning expertise (DAFs, foundations, complex gifting strategies)

  • Prior collaboration with CPAs and estate planning attorneys on advanced cases

  • Iowa Life & Health Insurance license (or willingness to obtain)
